A noted businessman and American author, Charles F. Haanel belonged to the American Scientific League, The American Society of Psychical Research, The Authors League of America, the St. Louis Chamber of Commerce and the St. Louis Humane Society.

He was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan and started his business career in St. Louis. Charles Haanel then resigned his position in order to open his own company and later on founded one of the biggest conglomerates of his generation.

He wrote a number of books that were published in Master Key Institute in New York and in St. Louis by Psychology Publishing. Haanel put into the books the methods and ideas that he used to achieve his success and accomplishments. He wrote the "Master Key System” in 1912, he also wrote "The New Psychology" and "Mental Chemistry" after that.
